Blues boss Gary Rowett has spoken to the agent of Brighton and Hove Albion striker Bobby Zamora. The 35 year-old has been suffering from hip problems and is out of contract at the Amex Stadium.

Blues` search for a striker has been placed as a priority in the summer as Rowett looks to increase his firepower. The over-reliance on Clayton Donaldson has been evident throughout the last two seasons with the Jamaican international appearing 89 times since signing from Brentford in 2014.

Zamora is one player on a list as long as Rowett`s arm but Vital Blues understand a conversation took place between Rowett and Zamora`s representatives.

It`s likely that Zamora, who was on a hefty five figure weekly salary, will lower his demands as he looks for a move which could potentially be his last one.

The former England international scored seven in 26 games for the Seagulls last term but was used mainly as an impact player from the bench. The aforementioned hip problems plagued his season and he has been released along with four other senior players.
