Blues manager Gary Rowett remains confident that Demarai Gray will stay at Birmingham City. Speculation over a move to Leicester City has increased over the last few days.

Speaking to the Goalzone’s Tom Ross, Rowett said- ‘There has been lots of interest in him (Gray) since he first stepped foot on the football pitch for Birmingham City because of his talent. I think Demarai signing a new contract in the summer showed his commitment to the team and that he is enjoying himself’.

Rowett went on to say that ‘You can never say never, but at the moment he is happy and is loving his football. He has reinforced to me that he is happy here’.

The 19-year-old has been hotly sought after by several clubs in the summer but signed a new deal at St. Andrew’s in July.

Blues were drawn out against Aston Villa in the Capital One Cup third round which again raised the subject of ‘Rowett being a Villa fan’.

Asked about his reported allegiance to Aston Villa when he was a youngster, Gary Rowett said- ‘I’ve never been to Villa Park, only as a player. I have the Bromsgrove tag, but I only lived there a year, I lived on the Isle of Wight’.

Rowett also commented on Stan Collymore’s tweets. He said- ‘I think that adds to all the banter. I saw Stan Collymore make a few tweets. If I was on Twitter by now I think there may be one or two retorts that would tell him what I think of his comments. Of course, it is just a bit of banter and adds to the spice of the game’.
