Former Blues managers Chris Hughton and Steve Bruce are on a list of possible replacements for Remi Garde at Aston Villa. The Lichfield and Redditch club will have their relegation to the Championship confirmed this weekend and have started the process of finding their next manager.

Predators will undoubtedly be sniffing around Gary Rowett for any potential managerial posts. However, Vital Blues understands that Rowett is not on Villa`s radar.

Villa will wait until the close season before stepping up the search for their next scapegoat. But according to a club source, Villa have been in dialogue with a number of clubs regarding their managers, but have not been in contact with Birmingham City.

Rowett has been heavily linked with the position at Derby County if the club part company with interim head coach Darren Wassall in the summer. But that will depend on the outcome of the play-offs, in which Derby will more than likely be participating.

Birmingham City are confident that their manager will “remain in place for next season” and they will “continue to support him to move the club forward”.
