Blues defender Marc Roberts insists the player are ‘hurting’ after Saturday’s defeat to his former club Barnsley which saw his current side fall back into the bottom three.

The summer signing claimed the players ‘had it out with each other’ in the dressing room following the latest abject performance.

Roberts said – ‘The fans think it doesn’t mean much to us but it affects our lives. It affects everything I do, outside of football too’.

The defeat – Blues’ fourth in a row without scoring – increased the pressure on manager Steve Cotterill. Roberts continued- ‘Everyone is struggling, we have to find some way out of it – we’ve just been having it out with each other in there’.

The Blues fans turned on the manager with chants of ‘we want Cotterill out’ echoing around St. Andrews. It remains to be seen whether the club will axe the man they appointed as Harry Redknapp’s successor in October.
