Garry Monk has finally been able to strengthen his squad with the loan signings of both Omar Bogle and Connor Mahoney yesterday.

The Birmingham Mail are however reporting that a fourth summer signing could be imminent with a deal for Cardiff City goalkeeper Lee Camp.

It’s fair to say that fans on Twitter are not too happy about the 33-year-old moving to St Andrew’s:

One fan thinks we should just put some faith in the manager:

Honestly, I’m hoping that we don’t see too much of him even if he does make the loan switch. As a number two, he would certainly give the squad some much-needed experience, but you will not find many supporters hailing the keeper’s abilities.

Fingers crossed that Connal Trueman can follow up his solid competitive debut performance with a few more over the coming weeks and months. Having to rely on Camp as an alternative certainly doesn’t fill me with confidence.

  • He is a permanent signing the deal is dune 2 year contract. Would not have been my choice but I trust monk. KRO.

  • I think i am agreeing with you Damian apart from the language used.if Trueman makes a few mistakes through inexperience so what, the Stockdales of this world surely did last season. Please give the new guy a chance, dont condemn him.We all condemn Ndoye as the worst player we have seen but Redknapp,Morrison and Monk have selected this so called no hoper. Please welcome our new guys and under the circumstances wish them all the best KRO

  • We’ve got ourselves in a mess goalie wise. To save wages we should have moved Stockdale onto leeds on loan. Now we are offering him on loan to Bolton !! Just can’t see them stumping up anything like leeds might have. Krysiak will stay and kick his heels to see out his generous contract out yet he will be our best goalie on the books after this month. Then we sign on a player that once was a solid guy at derby and forest but more recently seems to have lost his confidence and form . Because of the Sunderland fans bashing and that of our own too Camp is not going to gain any fresh confidence too quickly. What a mess. Bcfc was a club that had an outstanding goalie heritage often making them into internationals. I sincerely hope this coming season doesn’t note us for picking chumps rather than champs.
Despite all of this Camp needs our fullest support and I sincerely hope if and when picked he proves al l of his critics wrong

  • TMS is quite right. We have got into a mess regarding the goalkeeper situation. It all goes back to the murky transfer of Stockdale by Redknapp. We never needed a £39K per week keeper and certainly not an overweight one. Trueman might become a legend and perhaps Camp is just right for an unfashionable deputy if Trueman has a wobbly portion. Monk is a thinking man so maybe this isn’t the most barmy of signings.

    • Spot on. Note though didn’t Monk have the same issue at Middlesboro with Downing the picked him as the season got underway? Can’t see this happening with the goalies but its difficult to see the sense of what’s happening with Krysiak who proved to be competent enough before Stockdale arrived as Harry’s big surprise?
