Blues club reprenstatives held one-to-one meetings with the players yesterday as they consider Steve Cotterill’s future.

Vital Birmingham understands that the players remain strongly in favour of Cotterill staying on as manager. The ultimate decision will rest with the board – but the players, and Xuandong Ren, have come out in support of the 53 year-old.

Yesterday, captain Harlee Dean claimed that the players were the ones to blame and called upon the fans to back Cotterill.

But Saturday’s defeat to Barnsley was marred by ugly scenes in which the manager was pelted with missiles and subject to chants calling for his head.

It seems that the players are firmly behind their boss while the majority of fans wish to see him relieved of his duties.

It’s set to be a busy day at St. Andrews.
