Gianfranco Zola will not be sacked by Birmingham City, Vital Blues understands.

Despite a dismal run of one win from 14 games, Blues’ owners, Trillion Trophy Asia, are reluctant to give up on their manager who they appointed on a three-and-a-half-year contract back in December.

Blues fans overwhelmingly want Zola replaced with 90% of fans confirming their stance in a poll on this very website.

However, despite Blues fans voicing their discontent during yesterday’s 4-1 defeat at home to QPR, Zola is likely to be persisted with for the time being.

The Italian confirmed after the game that he wishes to meet with the clubs hierarchy to discuss club matters and it was assumed that his future would be on the agenda. It’s likely that Zola will be issued with a vote of confidence as the board still believe that he is the right man for the job in the long run.

Talks are due to take place tomorrow.
