On Tuesday night, Birmingham City exited the English Football League Cup in the first round as Oxford United claimed a very impressive win.

The winning goal came in the 120th minute as Liam Sercombe headed into an empty net as Blues goalkeeper Adam Legzdins failed to deal with a deep cross.

Blues, who created some good chances going forward, failed to really break United down throughout the game with the League One outfit coming to St.Andrews with a game plan, which the performed excellently.

Oxford were undoubtedly the better team going forward in my eyes and got what the deserved with Blues lacking any real malice in front of goal, with shots coming from distance rather than meaningful efforts from close range.

Down below are the ratings for the players who played in the disappointing 1-0 loss…

Legzdins – 5

Cogley – 5

Morrison – 5

Robinson – 6

Grounds – 6

Caddis – 6

Kieftenbeld – 5

Tesche – 7 and my Man of the Match.

Solomon-Otabor – 7

Storer – 6

Vaughan – 6

Substitutes: Gleeson (6), Donaldson (5), Maghoma (5).

Blues fans, do you agree that Robert Tesche was the Man of the Match for the game against Oxford United? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
