As we prepare to hit the mayhem month of December, I thought it would be a good idea to take a look at what free agents are currently out there that could potentially make a difference to the squad we have at the moment.

Granted, there are probably thousands of footballers looking for clubs as we speak but out of that large number, there are presumably only a handful of them that will be able to cut it in the Championship.

Over the past two weeks, Birmingham City have been running the rule over one or two free agents, like Kevin Constant and Jordan Spence as seen in the Birmingham Mail, but with a decision yet to be made on Spence, I thought it would be an interesting read to see who else is currently available as we speak.

Down below are three players who I think could make a difference to the squad that Rowett has at his disposal at the moment…

1. OUSSAMA ASSAIDI.

The 28-year-old wingers name may ring a bell to some English football fans and that is because he used to play for Premier League sides Liverpool and Stoke City from 2012 up until 2015 when he was released.

Only in the last two weeks has the Moroccan international been released so he won’t be short of match fitness should I side offer him a trial in order to earn a deal.

Although Blues do have Jacques Maghoma, Greg Stewart, David Cotterill and Viv Solomon-Otabor as out and out wingers, I don’t think it would do us any harm bringing in another senior winger just to offer them a little bit more competition.

2. DIEGO POYET.

The son of former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Gus is currently without a club following his release from West Ham United in August of this year.

At 21, Poyet could be described as a talent that hasn’t quite reached the stage he would like to be at but that shouldn’t discourage Blues from making a move for the Spaniard.

The young midfielder came through the ranks at Charlton Athletic where he went on to make 20 appearances for the Addicks in the league and cup so he has some league experience with them.

He also has league experience with MK Dons, Huddersfield Town and the Hammers, but the only thing that could hold him back if the club were to make him an offer is his lack of match fitness but you never know, anything can happen in football!

3. ZAKARIA LABYAD.

Like Poyet, Labyad is only young but he does have some experience of playing in the Championship after he spent the second half of the 2015/16 season on loan at Fulham.

During his time with the Cottagers he only made two appearances, both of which came in his first month at the club, but his pedigree elsewhere is something that should also be looked at.

The 23-year-old is also Moroccan, like Assaidi, but he was born in Holland. He played for the Netherlands at under 17 level before choosing to play for Morocco in 2011.

His previous clubs are PSV, Sporting CP Vitesse Arnhem and Sporting B which tells you that he can clearly cut it at the top level and if the attacking midfielder were to sign for the club it would certainly offers the likes of Che Adams and Diego Fabbrini some stiff competition.

Blues fans, out of the three names that have been mentioned, which one do you think the club would most likely pursue? Let us know in the comment section down below!
