One To Watch: Matt Mills

Despite playing so well against Bournemouth on Saturday, we need to pick ourselves up and there is no better way to do that than to play a game on a Tuesday evening.

The Blues’ will travel the short distance to Nottingham in order to play Forest in what will be a tough game for the side especially with a few injuries still present.

Now, the player I have picked out as Forest’s most dangerous is actually the defender, Matt Mills. In 21 appearances, he has made 125 clearances and 12 blocks. That shows just how eager he is to put his body in the way of the ball in order to prevent the opposition from scoring.

As he is a tall lad, he will be very good in the air so I am hoping that Donaldson is fit enough to start because I fear that he may out-compete Vaughan just due to the difference in height. He is also a strong player who doesn’t mind tackling if he needs to. 4 yellows and one red card this season shows that he sometimes can be a bit reckless though.

He has also scored 4 goals so far this season so will be a danger on set pieces. I have seen him a few times, albeit on the television, but he always seems to get free. He makes clever runs and then has the power and accuracy to get his headers on target. This needs to be watched by our defenders.

Usually, it’s the attack that I focus on because they’re the ones that are going to win the games in terms of physically getting the goals and chances. But Matt will also do that as well as being a pain in the backside for our attackers.

What I did like about the performance of Birmingham on Saturday, was the fact that we attacked very well. I thought the movement was good, we created chances and the overall play in the final third was a lot better than it has been previously. This is a definite positive to carry into the Forest game.

I do believe that we can get a good run going now and pick up a few points. We seem to do better in games with tougher oppositions and we do have some tough games coming up but I am hopeful that we can progress in the league.
