Kenny Jackett has backed Gary Rowett to refocus Birmingham City after their decline in recent years.

There were warm words from the Wolves boss ahead of Saturdays fierce clash of two age old rivals.

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City have had some tightly contested games over the previous ten years and are set to lock horns once more.

With Wolves looking like a young, in shape and ready to go competitor. Versus the injured, battered and bruised old force that is Blues at the moment.

Jacket sees it as an interesting time for Birmingham, though. Speaking on wolves.co.uk

‘Gary has done very well at Burton over a number of seasons and quite rightly gets the chance now at Championship level,’

‘I’m sure their club will respond positively to a new manager after that defeat and we have to really concentrate on this game.’

Jacket also is fond of Gary on a personal level

‘I have met Gary once or twice while out and about in Midlands football. He is an ex-Birmingham player and I’m sure he will lift and re-focus the whole club.’

We’ve heard nothing but good things of the new man in charge at St Andrews, but he knows as well as we do, that the only thing that matters is obtaining points for this club.
