Burton Chairman Ben Robinson has said that Rowett and his staff move on with their blessing and good will.

Rowett guided Burton away from the relegation zone in League Two before making them into a strong play-off outfit in just two and a half years.

It has thus come as no surprise to the Burton boss that his talented young manager would move on once the right job came along and that just happened to be Birmingham.

Robinson told bbc.co.uk ‘Of course I am sad he is going, but Gary has done remarkably well and has created lots of excitement for the fans and a buzz in the town.

But he goes with our blessing and our goodwill with thanks for what he has achieved for us.

‘We will miss all that but we have to try to find someone who can take it on.’

It is always a positive sign when a club don’t want to let someone go, the people who see their work on a day to day basis are the most reliable information you have to go on.

It seems like Rowett’s success at Burton was very much down to hard work, getting the staff and players happy with what they are doing to go and then win football matches.

Rowett will now try his hand at Birmingham, first up – Wolves away, not so hard, right?
