Over the course of the past week, Birmingham City have announced the signings of both Che Adams from Sheffield United and Greg Stewart from Dundee for a combined fee of around £2.5 million.

The pair are available for Saturday’s trip to Leeds United and although Stewart may not start, it looks as though 20-year-old Adams could be handed his first team debut in a Blues shirt.

As nice as it is to see new faces arrive at St.Andrews, the truth has to be realised, old faces will now more than likely depart.

Even though Blues boss Gary Rowett hasn’t hinted that there will be departures from the club, I expect at least one first team player to be sold or loaned out before the closure of the summer transfer window.

In my eyes, there are a few candidates from the current first team squad who could leave Blues over the next few weeks and I am sure that it won’t come as a surprise to many as to who those names are.

Firstly, I think attacking midfielder Andy Shinnie will leave the club. Following the arrival of both Adams and Stewart, it is even less likely that Shinnie will be required in the first team and will opportunities becoming more and more limited for the Scot, he will probably be told he can leave.

Yes, Shinnie may be a good squad player but lets face it, he has never really lived up to all the hype that surrounded him when he first arrived in B9.

My guess would be that he will head back to Scotland where he is more comfortable with the style of football or he may even head into League One with a side like Charlton Athletic.

Along with Shinnie, I think the likes of Koby Arthur and Reece Brown may leave the club on loan deals. Blues have already rejected a loan approach from an unnamed League One side for Brown, believed to be Coventry City, but with four first team central midfielders, Rowett may think it is best for him to go out and get some minutes under his belt.

Personally, I would love to see Brown in and around the first team but again, the truth is, opportunities may become limited for him and it wouldn’t be fair to keep him on the bench with the talent he has.

Like Brown, I think it would benefit Arthur to go out on loan and get some valuable first team minutes but I don’t think he is quite at the standard of League One just yet so we may see him move to a League Two club but who knows!

Blues fans, do you agree that we could see at least one outgoing over the new few weeks following the arrivals of Che Adams and Greg Stewart? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
