Alex McLeish is set to hold talks this coming week with a Norwegian club Brann Bergen about the possibility of becoming their new manager.

I never recall managers saying how they dream of managing in Norway and I cannot imagine McLeish is any different, it could be said that even this kind of speculation is an indication of just how damaged ‘Big Alex’s’ stock is these days.

When you think about it, it is probably not excessively difficult to figure out why he isn’t viewed by many as a managerial genius. When you have a nightmare after changing from one club to their city rivals and then embark on more adventures of monumental failure, the picture must become abundantly clear.

The move would definitely be somewhat of a result for Brann Bergen and the club have refused to comment on the situation, probably to minimise disappointment in the event it doesn’t happen.

It is speculated that outside investors are set to help the club fund McLeish’s salary should he join on.

Looking at how this club, that is interested in him, are reacting to questioning it would strike me that they are more hopeful than confident but it could well turn out to be a blessing for McLeish’s drowning career.

The previous clubs on Alex’s CV include Aston Villa, Rangers, Hibs and of course Birmingham City. Let us not forget McLeish’s very special 40 day reign over Nottingham Forest.

I doubt any blue-nose will be losing any sleep over their former manager’s employment situation, in fact maybe its even a little pleasing for us to see.

The most successful Birmingham City manager is hardly the toast of the town , in fact I doubt he would want to visit any more.
