The official Birmingham City site has announced that; ‘Young Blues striker George McGee has joined non-league Rushall Olympic on a youth loan.’
He will be at the club until October 14th. As an avid watcher of youth football, it seems that more and more young players are opting to gain experience with non-league clubs.
It’s to drive them to succeed at a bigger club and not to become complacent, in my view. But also, it does allow them match time and experience training with experienced coaches.
‘McGee made his debut for The Pics as a second-half substitute in last night’s 1-0 victory away at Grantham Town.’
McGee has had three appearances with the U21’s this season, which isn’t enough game time to develop positioning and other attributes that can’t be taught in training.
‘Elsewhere, Reece Webb’s spell of work experience with Brackley Town has now come to an end.’
He only made one appearance, but did train well with them. He was also playing with the U21’s at the same time.
