The Birmingham manager has been talking to the Birmingham Mail today, disappointment has been the regular for Blues just lately. Losing to table leaders Leicester made it four defeats in January.

Fight

Clark started off by admitting that the turn of the year has been a tough one for the Blues. He remains confident in himself though, he vowed to fight and battle on.

“Since January 1[st] we have had the spine of the team ripped out of us and we haven`t recovered.”

The above is in reference to the departures of Lingard, Burn and now Bartley. Losing those three is a blow, mainly because of their position not just the fact all three did very well whilst on loan.

Backs to the Wall

Some might say that Birmingham looked beaten right from the first whistle against Leicester, but Clark put that down to the fear of playing top of the league.

“In that ten-game unbeaten run there were games where it was backs to the wall and we were blocking shots and fighting for each other and we were getting results.”

Lee Clark still also maintains he does not know much about the financial on goings of the club. His only concern is getting a playing squad together for a reasonable amount of time.

Stretched on Experience

The Blues boss also highlighted the ages of his team lately, possibly hinting that he would prefer some more experience in there.

“I am relying on 17-year-old lads (Reece Brown) who are talented footballers but game in, game out they shouldn`t have to be relied on like this.’

I think the young lads are doing remarkably well considering they are in at the deep end. Because of the finances at the club it becomes easy to expect these young players to come in and do a good job straight away.

A large majority of Birmingham fans are not beginning to want for younger players. Can you blame them though? With senior players like Zigic performing consistently without effect and Reece Brown looking solid, it`s no wonder people are eager to see change.
