Blues midfielder Stan Lazaridis’ Australia side are going to the World Cup in Germany next summer for the first time since 1974.

Australia won the 2nd leg 1-0 in normal time and went through after a 4-2 penalties victory.

Although Stan was an unused substitue he was obviously delighted to have the oppurtunity to bow out of international football with an appearance in Germany next summer.

Also Blues keeper Maik Taylor was in action for Northern Ireland against Portugal in Belfast last night.

Northern Ireland held the iberean side to a credictable 1-1 draw after going a goal down.

Taylor was understood to be in fine form again as once again captained the side.
