Mario Melchiot completed the full 90 minutes as Blues Reserves came away from Leeds United with a point after an uneventful goalless draw.

Both teams hit the woodwork once but there were few other notable goal-scoring chances at South Leeds Stadium.


Blues keeper Colin Doyle got out of jail when his poor clearance fell to the feet of Kevin Smith within the opening minute but the Leeds man saw his shot rebound off the post.


Leeds: Smith, Madden, Crainey, Hird, Gregan, Walton, Einarsson (Hutton 59), Smith, Howson (Ameobi 89), Bayly.
Subs not used: Wilberforce, Camfield, Serrant.

Blues: Doyle, Melchiot, Painter, Oji, Bruce, Howland, Wright, Alsop, Barrowman, Kuqi (Allen 72), Birley.
Subs not used: Sadler, Cottrill, Hall, Motteram.

Blues U18’s have been handed a tough draw against Manchester United in the FA Youth Cup.

The tie will be at St Andrews with the game to be played on a date to be confirmed before Saturday December 17.

Blues’ loanee Midfielder Jiri Jarosik will be going to the World Cup next year after his Czech side beat Norway 1-0 last night.

Jiri remained on the bench all game last night but is sure to be included in the squad next summer.

And finally there will be a new flag at St Andrews in the near future, after a group of fans came up with the idea as a way of boosting the atmosphere.

Several fans contibuted to cost of the flag, with the majority of the cost of the production kindly being met by principal club sponsors Flybe.

The flag is likely to be unveiled at the West Ham home fixture on December 5.
