Goalkeeper Maik Taylor pulled off a superb performance to keep Spain at bay as Northern Ireland fought back from being behind twice before they sealed the win.

Taylor came on after only 12 minutes with Roy Carroll suffering a groin injury.

Northern Ireland were behind twice in the match and each time fought back hard to equilise before David Healy pulled off a magnificient lob to give not only NI all the three points but also his first hattrick for the team.

Taylor put in some superb saves as Spain tried in vain to both increase their lead and then find an equiliser themselves.

It wasn’t such good news for other Blues players involved with their national sides; Bendtner and Forssell remained unused substitutes however Cameron Jerome played 20 odd minutes of the England under 21 game.
