Birmingham City wide man David Cotterill has been ruled out of action for at least three weeks according to medical staff at the club .

The Welshman limped off after the hour mark at Elland Road and his subsequent injury led to him pulling out of the Wales squad that qualified for Euro 2016 in Paris.

Blues boss Gary Rowett is hoping that the scenario of Cotterill’s injury isn’t a bad one and that he is hoping that he will have a speedy recovery.

In an interview with Bcfc.com, the former Burton Albion boss told the site: ‘The medical team think that the best case scenario is that he’s going to be around the three week mark and worst case scenario, it will be longer.’

With Cotterill being out for some crucial games in the month of October, including the derby clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rowett will now have to utilise the likes of Jacques Maghoma and maybe even Viv Solomon-Otabor.

It isn’t clear which of the two wide men will fill in the gap, but most fans would likely sway towards bringing Maghoma in following some impressive performances of late.
