Gary Rowett is very rarely wrong and speaks many true words. But none have been truer than his claims that Clayton Donaldson is ‘undroppable`. The 31 year-old former Brentford man is sitting pretty at the peak of the Championship ‘top assists` league. With five assists to his name, The Don is certainly proving his worth yet again.

Rowett also claimed that Donaldson is ‘more than just a goal scorer`. Again, true. In fact, Rowett could be tempted to be a contestant on Mastermind with his specialist subject being ‘Clayton Donaldson`.

Signed by Lee Clark in July 2014, Donaldson topped Blues` scoring chart last season with 15 goals and has currently hit the target on four occasions this term. But it is his overall play and contribution to the team that is the most pleasing for Rowett and Blues fans.

Last season, David Cotterill was Blues` highest assist provider with eight, a record Donaldson is already over halfway to beating. His stats become even sweeter when you take into account he was a free transfer. While Clark must take credit for the signing, Rowett is getting the best out of the player.

Prior to clocking in at St. Andrew`s, the highest level Donaldson had played at was the Scottish Premier League. He will be keen to fire Blues into the play-offs this season to have his first shot at the English top flight.
