Huddersfield to test themselves and Blues

Saturday’s trip to Huddersfield Town will be an intriguing spectacle. David Wagner’s men have been at the top end of the Championship this season but will be coming off the back of a 5-0 hammering at Fulham.

Their promotion aspirations are about to be realised, or not. If Huddersfield are genuine promotion contenders, they’ll come out with a positive response which could spell danger for Blues. But if, as I suspect, they are starting to drop off, Blues will have an opportunity to go there and win.

While the Villa game would have taken a lot out of the players, Gary Rowett has assembled a squad big enough to cope with changes to the team selection. Players such as Greg Stewart, Diego Fabbrini and Viv Solomon-Otabor are itching for time on the pitch and could have a part to play between now and Christmas, when the games start to pile up.

A clean sheet will be a massive confidence boost to Blues’ defenders. They haven’t kept one since the Blackburn game on October 1st and have conceded eight goals in the four games since.

But a return to winning ways is what Rowett will crave more than anything as Blues look to prove a point of their own.
