How YOU rated the Blues players in the draw at Sheffield United

|

Wednesday night saw Sheffield United become the latest team fortunate to come away with a point against us.

It was another strong performance from the Blues at Bramall Lane and once again, we were the better side who created the better of the game’s chances. However, the 0-0 scoreline means that we still remain in search of that first win of the season, having drawn six and lost two.

Here’s how you rated the players after Wednesday night’s draw along with our view on the player’s performances from:

Lee Camp – Your Average Rating: 6.3/10

Our View: Honestly, I, like many, am still not convinced by Camp, but Wednesday night saw one of his more solid displays in a Blues shirt. He dealt with most of what came at him with assurance and did what he needed to do.

Harlee Dean – Your Average Rating: 7.3/10

Our View: Dean, once again, put forward a solid display in the heart of the Blues defence. He won most of his aerial battles and dealt with most of the Sheffield United forward threat comfortably. Dean has definitely been one of the Blues’ most consistent performers this season.

Kristian Pedersen – Your Average Rating: 6.8/10

Our View: Pedersen is still getting there when it comes to his positional sense, but he more than makes up for it with his tenacity and willingness to get stuck in. Caught out once or twice in the first-half, he seemed to get to grips with things in second-half and won all the tackles he challenged for.

Maxime Colin – Your Average Rating: 7.0/10

Our View: While Colin didn’t contribute too much in the attacking sense, he still provided a good outlet and support for the team going forward. He once again showed his athletic abilities in the defensive half and dealt with much of the threat down his side.

Michael Morrison – Your Average Rating: 7.3/10 – VITAL MAN OF THE MATCH

Our View: Yes, he did get the same average rating as Harlee Dean, but we elected to give Morrison the Vital Man of the Match award. He won some key defensive headers and once again showed his willingness to throw himself in the way of things for the team. He led by example at the back and his partnership with Dean has been one of the biggest positives of the season so far.

Charlie Lakin – Your Average Rating: 6.8/10

Our View: A very solid debut from the young midfielder. Showed a willingness off the ball, as well as a good positional awareness. Lakin also showed glimpses of the qualities we’ve heard he possesses on the ball too.

Gary Gardner – Your Average Rating: 6.8/10

Our View: Gardner is looking like our best central midfielder this season so far. Very good on the ball, but also willing to work off it. Very unfortunate to have not scored, having hit the post with an excellently struck free-kick.

Jacques Maghoma – Your Average Rating: 5.8/10

Our View: On his day, Maghoma can be a threat to any side in this division, but unfortunately, Wednesday night was not his day. He didn’t give us too much going forward and looked a little lax with his tracking back. However, we know the quality he can possess and I’m sure he’ll bounce back.

Jota – Your Average Rating: 6.5/10

Our View: I thought Jota had a very solid game, was involved in a good amount of our play going forward and showed more of his increased willingness to support with the defensive duties. Solid from the Spaniard.

Che Adams – Your Average Rating: 5.3/10

Our View: Anonymous is probably the best word to use Adams’ display on Wednesday night. He didn’t give us much up top and just didn’t seem to be interested at points. I, like many of you, will be expecting a lot more from him in coming games.

Lukas Jutkiewicz – Your Average Rating: 6.5/10

Our View: Jutkiewicz is probably the forward I’m most willing on to score for Blues currently. He works so hard for the team and works so hard to create space and chances for those around him through his unmatched physical work. Unleashed an excellent strike in the first-half that hit the post, although I do think the goalkeeper had that one covered.

Substitutes:

Connor Mahoney – Your Average Rating: 6.0/10

Our View: Looked somewhat of a livewire when he came on and showed good energy to try and get Blues forward to snatch the winner. He had an excellent chance towards the end, forcing a very good save from Blades keeper Henderson. I’m looking forward to seeing more of him.

Omar Bogle – Your Average Rating: 5.3/10

Our View: Gave us somewhat of a different dimension when he came on, but I think there’s still more that needs to come from him. He had a glorious chance to score from close range, it wasn’t the easiest of opportunities, but he still should’ve scored from the position he found himself in.

Wes Harding – Your Average Rating: 5.7/10

Our View: He was only on for a couple of minutes, so we can’t really say too much.
