Birmingham City will be without Gavin Gunning after he has been ruled out for a prolonged period of time.

Gunning collided with Colin Doyle during Birmingham`s 3-1 win over Cambridge United and has damaged his posterior cruciate knee ligament. The player will miss a long period of time as this particular injury is going to require correction via surgery.

The injury was picked up on Tuesday night just 36 minutes into Gavin Gunning`s debut for the Blues.

Gunning is 23 years old and was set to try and work his way into the Birmingham first team this season. Grant Hall and Paul Robinson looked set to be the first choices, but with Robinson ageing, Gunning will still be a big blow to the team.

Birmingham will be without Gavin Gunning for Saturday`s game against Brighton and Hove Albion.
