The Birmingham Mail have reported that there is no agreement with Liverpool or any other club to sell Blues hot prospect Demarai Gray. The 18 year old winger was reported to have been part of a ‘first option clause` with the Merseyside club and speculation increased when Jordan Ibe joined on loan from Liverpool last year, but all this accusations and rumours are fake.

Blues laughed off a £500,000 enquiry from Crystal Palace during the January transfer window for the England Under 19 player but that has been the only concrete offer for the wide man so far and Birmingham expect that to stay the same.

Arsenal and Tottenham have also been reported through the press to have sent scouts to recent Birmingham City games to watch Gray and before the departure of manager Lee Clark in the week, he did admit that the St. Andrew`s club may struggle to keep hold of wonder kids Koby Arthur and Gray during the next transfer window.

Gray has played ten times so far this season for Blues and has been seen as one of the young players of the season so far with his impressive quick feet and eye for goal. Scoring his first goal of the season away at Norwich in a 2-2 draw in September, the Birmingham born player has been unlucky in recent weeks with various efforts hitting the frame work, including a strike against Bolton last weekend.

It is crucial that Birmingham City, manager or not keep hold of young prospects such as Gray who was named last season`s Academy player of the season. For the last few years the spine of Blues team has been built on the likes of Butland, Redmond, Hancox and Reilly who are all graduates of the academy system at the Wast Hills training complex and with the likes of McFarlane, Brown, Gray and Arthur coming through the future looks bright.
