Birmingham City`s academy Goalkeeper Nick Townsend currently on loan at Vanarama Conference Premier Side Lincoln City will not be allowed to play in the FA Cup this weekend for his current side away at Alfreton Town. After the recent sacking of Lee Clark, it is unsure where Townsend will be seen in Blues new manager`s plans so he has been told he is unavailable for selection in this Saturdays FA Cup 4th round qualifying game for The Imps.

Born and Bred Brummie Townsend was sent on loan during the summer and was expected to be available for selection at the weekend as he is on a twelve month loan deal, however the uncertainty at Blues after Clark`s sacking has meant that he will no longer be able to feature for.

Townsend`s manager at Lincoln City, Gary Simpson told the Birmingham Mail; “”Birmingham are in the process of looking for a new boss, so they don`t want to put any prospective manager in a position where he will not have the whole squad available to them,”

The goalkeeper joined Lincoln City half way through last season and impressed. Leading his side to an unbeaten run in his first four games, including a clean sheet and man-of-the-match display in his second and impressed so much he was recalled this year to gain another valuable year at Sincil Bank.

Townsend is seen to be one of the next big things at Blues and has played the majority of games for his loanee club this term, leading The Imps to 14th in the table, eight points away from the play-offs. Blues on the other hand go into this weekend`s home game against Bournemouth with keeping problems of their own as Darren Randolph will serve his second game of a three match suspension after getting sent off in last weekend`s loss to Bolton Wanderers at St. Andrews.
