Pep Clotet’s side slumped to a 1-0 defeat at Wigan Athletic last night, as City fans grew frustrated at the clubs poor run which has seen them lose five of their last eight games.
Indeed, the Blues have lost their last three on the bounce, with defeats to both Preston North End and Derby County prior to last night’s unsuccessful trip to Lancashire, and supporters feel performances are deteriorating and mistakes made repeatedly.
City followers didn’t take kindly to last night’s events, heading onto social media to vent their frustration at what they feel is a lack of progress on the pitch. Here’s what was said:
God, that was SOOO awful to watch !
Utter rubbish! Please tell me Camp will not play again – I’d rather Pep Clotet go in goal ifnit came to it.
Bailey, Bellingham & Crowley the ONLY bright points. Awful performance— David Campbell (@ClearCampbell) October 1, 2019

Some felt the performance at Wigan was a woeful one, with very few positives coming from a disjointed away display. Certain players, notably goalkeeper Lee Camp, came in for heavy criticism as fans question if he’s up to the task.

Large sections of supporters were highly critical of Pep Clotet in the aftermath, with many feeling it’s time for the 42-year-old Spaniard to be relieved of his duties.
Bye pep, bye camp, bye dean

There is certainly work for Clotet to do to arrest the side’s alarming slide and get supporters back on side, while it remains to be seen whether some senior players need taking ‘out of the firing line’ and replaced for the time being.
