From one Birmingham City full-back to another

When you ask Birmingham City fans to name an iconic moment that has happened in the last five years, at least 75% of them will say it has to be the Paul Caddis goal that kept the club in the Championship back in 2014.

You wouldn’t be wrong in saying that because the Scots goal will go down in the history of the club and even though he is now no longer with the club, the memory of that goal will always be there.

With that in mind, another full-back that is currently on the books at Blues could have also put his name in the history books with a goal of his own.

Although Craig Gardner’s second half spot kick pretty much secured all three points for Blues in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town, left-back Jonathan Grounds opened the scoring just before the break.

That goal was slightly overshadowed by Gardner’s but it mustn’t be forgotten that Grounds’ goal could be the one to keep us in the division meaning that when Blues have needed them the most, the full-backs have come good.

From Caddis to Grounds, Blues have had some wonderful full-backs in their history and long may they continue to chip in with the all important goals.
