Former Blues goalkeeper Jack Butland has signed for Championship rivals Barnsley on an emergency loan.

Butland was sold to Stoke City for around £3.5million in January and there was talk of the keeper coming back to St Andrews this season on another loan.

That move did not come about after Blues brought in a new man for the job, Darren Randolph.

Barnsley take the 20 year old to Oakwell as cover for the injured Luke Steel who will have a scan on a back injury.

Butland is set to make his debut for the Tykes on Saturday at Leicester City.
