Former Birmingham City executive Karen Brady is to be made a Conservative Peer and there is also considerable speculation she is to be put forward as a candidate for London Mayer.

Brady started out as the first female board member of a premier league football club at a young age and then went on to remain close to David Sullivan and David Gold when they purchased West Ham football club. She now holds the position of co-chairman.

This progression through to a Tory peer could be seen as natural progress as she has been involved with the party for some time. She is their small business` ambassador and introduced George Osborne at last year`s party conference.

Peers are largely selected by the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister. There is thought to be around 20 new peers which will take the upper house to 800. The leader of the opposition can also make nominations for consideration.

The peers will be announced this week.
