After a solid performance on Saturday away at Reading, Blues boss Gary Rowett will be hoping his side can continue picking up the results he desires in order for the season not to fizzle out.

Blues, who have lost just twice in their last nine league home games, will be hoping that after results swung their way at the weekend they can keep picking up points in the push for an unlikely play off push.

Leeds United on the other hand currently sit in 15th place and have only won four away games all season which hopefully plays right into Rowett’s hands.

However, despite it looking like it could be a straightforward win for Birmingham City, when Leeds played table toppers Burnley at the weekend, they showed plenty of grit and determination so we wouldn’t rule them out just yet and as we all know, we don’t play particularly well against teams below us.

Despite Leeds’ position in the table, they have some very good players in their squad and choosing this weeks five-a-side team has been more difficult than I thought.

Having said that, down below are the five players that I have picked for this weeks side and I think it is one of the tastier looking teams that we have had this calender year.

GK: Tomasz Kuszczak.

Once again I have picked the former Manchester United keeper and that’s because he was the best option! Leeds have only managed to keep seven clean sheets in the league which is less than half what Kuszczak has this season.

Although he was dropped at the weekend, I still think that in the back of every Blues fans mind, they are contemplating the fact that he could be one of the best signings that we have had this season and that is why he is in my team once again this week.

DF: Jonathan Grounds.

Grounds has been a bit of an unsung hero this season for Blues in my opinion and I think I join a lot of Blues fans when I say that he doesn’t really get the credit that he deserves.

I know in the past I have slated him myself but in recent weeks it is clear to see that his work rate gets him places and his desire to try and push the team forward is something that I am really enjoying at the moment.

The fact that he is key in both boxes is also one of the reasons that I have chosen to put him in defence for this weeks five-a-side team.

MF: Viv Solomon-Otabor and Alex Mowatt.

I have picked a very young midfield this week and that’s because I have taken inspiration from what Rowett said at his press conference last week before the Reading game.

Solomon-Otabor has only really had chance to shine from the bench this season but when he has come into the fray, I personally think that he has looked like a very promising young winger.

He might not have all the attributes of Demarai Gray or Nathan Redmond but I’ll tell you something, give him a year or two and he will have developed into a very good player and he will be another one we can boast about.

Next to Viv I have opted to go for United’s young midfielder Mowatt. Although he probably hasn’t had the best season of his life, he has still had one that a 21-year-old should be content with.

With 33 appearances under his belt this campaign and two goals in his back pocket, I think Mowatt is a player that Leeds will do very well to keep hold of in the summer, especially if he keeps playing at this standard.

His ruggedness is one of the reasons why I have included him in my five-a-side team this week, that and the fact that I think he could be a thorn in our side on Tuesday night.

ST: Mirco Antenucci.

Antenucci has been one of those players this season that you always want to keep an eye on because he has something in his locker that can always surprise you and I am hoping that that something doesn’t make an appearance on Tuesday night.

The Italian striker has nine goals to his name this season and I am sure he will be in the hunt for his tenth, but lets just hope that doesn’t come at St.Andrews.

At the age of 31, the forward is probably in his prime and Leeds have done really well to get a good season out of him and for that reason he is in my team for this week.

Blues and Leeds fans, do you agree with the five-a-side team that has been picked this week? Would you make any changes to it? Let us know in the comment section down below!
