Birmingham City scored two first half goals to clinch their first away win in over two months as they managed to secure the double over Reading this season.

Within the opening two minutes of the game and Blues had taken the lead. The ball found its way out over to David Cotterill on the right hand side and his delightful ball in found the head of Clayton Donaldson who bagged his eighth goal of the campaign.

Just before the half hour mark and Gary Rowett’s side doubled their lead. Wales international Cotterill was once again involved in the build up to this goal as his rasping freekick was parried by Ali Al-Habsi straight into the path of Derby County loanee Ryan Shotton who simply tapped home.

After the game, I managed to get Luke’s player ratings off him and the one particular point he made was that Shotton had a much better game at centre half than he did when he was played at right back.

Legzdins – 6

Caddis – 7

Morrison – 7

Shotton – 8 and his Man of the Match.

Grounds – 7

Kieftenbeld – 6

Gleeson – 7

Davis – 7

Cotterill – 7

Lafferty – 7

Donaldson – 7

Substitutions: Solomon-Otabor (6), Maghoma (5).
