Vital Birmingham Content Editor, Rob Wildey, caught up with Thomas Lightbourne, a Bristol City fan, ahead of Blues’ trip to Ashton Gate on Sunday.

What is your opinion of Lee Johnson?

Like many Robins fans, I am torn. I like him, he seems like a genuine bloke. However, we had a nightmarish run earlier in the season where we went completely backwards and ended up in a relegation battle.

He deserves credit for handling the stick he was receiving. It cannot be easy when you have your own fans calling for your head, but he didn`t shirk the challenge and managed to just steer us clear. I doubt he is the right manager for us in the long term though.

What was expectation of Bristol City before the season started?

Obviously, finishing 18th last season wasn’t bad. Being our first season back in the Championship, survival was the main aim.

Losing Jonahan Kodija was a massive blow but having Tammy Abraham on loan has been a god send. Yet I can’t help feeling like we’ve gone backwards. Others may disagree but it’s hard to see how we’ve progressed.

Before this season started, I was optimistic for a mid table finish, and a comfortable one at that. It started quite well, we were chasing the play off pack for a while. Since then, we’ve curtailed somewhat and could have easily have been relegated but for some recent good results.

It’s fair to say that this season has turned into a bit of a disappointment.

How did David Cotterill fare whilst on loan at Ashton Gate?

It started relatively well for him. Cotterill played the full 90 minutes in his first eight games. But recently, he’s barely featured and hasn’t been in the squad for the last two games. His loan spell is over, he’s been so-so. I wouldn’t be happy or disappointed if we signed him permanently.

What is your prediction for the game?

Ashton Gate is sold out, it’ll be our biggest crowd in years. Our Championship status is confirmed whereas Birmingham need to win or rely on other results. Draw written all over it. I’m going for a goalless draw.
