Birmingham City have this evening confirmed the appointment of former-Watford head coach Gianfranco Zola.

Just hours after the Championship club revealed the shock departure of fan favourite Gary Rowett, news have broken that the little Italian has been appointed as the man to take the club forward.

The ex-Chelsea player and West Ham United manager has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club and he will be joined by his backroom staff of Pierluigi Casiraghi and Gabriele Cioffi as First Team Coaches, Kevin Hitchcock (Goalkeeper Coach) and Sebastiano Porcu (Video Analyst).

Although the appointment comes as no shock to Blues fans who were led to believe that Zola was the man to be taking over the moment Rowett was sacked, most fans are likely to be disappointed as they believed that Rowett was the man to take the club forward.

Blues fans, what do you make of the appointment? Let us know down below!
