EX BLUES Savage has no Class

Forgiveness is one of the greatest things one human being can offer another. Chairman Gold’s offer of a handshake was turned down by Savage. This was one of the most dispicable acts that anyone has carried out in society let alone on the football field. The majority of fans did not see this as I am sure they would have reacted to the Welshman far worse than they actually did. When Savage went on his provocative and foolish ‘celebration’ after scoring the equaliser then the fact there was no pitch invasion or attempts to get at him was also a sign that the Blues fans g=had forgiven him.

Yes, Savage was jeered each time he touched the ball but no more than anywhere else he applies his waning skils.

Compared to the ‘dogs abuse’ that Stan Collymore received when playing for Fulhan as a Villa loanee Savage’s reception was normal football banter. In truth the majority of Blues fans had forgiven him or at least forgot.

Birmingham City had good service from Savage but the Club made Robbie not the other way around. At Leicester he was no more than an anoying curiosity who was famous only for getting a guy sent off in a Cup Final and bad hair cuts.

At Blues he was projected into star status, was a member of a decent Wales squad and had documentaries made about him.

Now at Blackburn he plays in arguable a better football team but they will never be as big a publicity vehicle as Blues. Robbie is in a football backwater where no-one watches him no one talks about him and the Welsh team will have nothing to do with him.

Savage’s all action, ‘in your face’ style has gone. He is getting old. His refusal of the hand of friendship from Mr Gold was the final straw. What little Robbie had to offer has finally dried up.
