David Edgar will be delighted today having be announced as a member of his international team. But it will be cutting it close with Birmingham playing either side of the fixtures.

David Edgar will join up with the Canadian international team after being given a call up to face Columbia in next month’s friendly.

The Canadian will join up with his international side for a training camp in Cancun, Mexico, on 5 October.

Canada have two friendlies to play. Columbia at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey and then USA on 14 October.

Birmingham play Charlton on Saturday 4 October away in the Sky Bet Championship before Edgar jets off to represent his country. He will also not return until just a few days before Birmingham line up against Bolton Wanderers at home.
