Former Reading striker Joseph Mendes has shared a picture of himself on Instagram wearing a Birmingham City shirt.
He posted the image with the caption “good first session” suggesting he’s in training. The forward left the Royals at the end of last season and is seeking a new club:

Fans on Twitter reacted to the photo of the Guinea-Bissau international:
looks to me he has just swapped a shirt with someone after a game and is now using it as his pe kit.

Doubt there’s anything in this, he’s probably a blues fan that’s all, he wouldn’t be training in the home shirt if he was training with blues

He's wearing Reading shorts in the picture, and you don't wear match shirts in training – he was probably given it by a friend. Mendes to #BCFC not happening. https://t.co/lnQAhdjZl6

Doubt there’s anything in this.
But that's it.

Look at his Instagram pictures. A lot are dedicated to scoring against the Villa. Defo a blue nose.

Na it's because it's the only team he's scored against ???? Doesn't score many goals.

Verdict:
Although Mendes is available on a free transfer, I don’t see us making a move for him. It’s likely just a picture of him keeping fit before he finds his next club. After all, if he were on trial with us, he would be in full training gear, and not wearing a home kit.
The 27-year-old’s injury record would also be a major concern, and during his two years at the Madejski Stadium, he made just 20 appearances, scoring three goals. There are many better recruits out there who are available on a free transfer.
