Birmingham City have today announced the signing of Chelsea midfielder Jeremie Boga on a season-long loan deal.

The Ivorian playmaker made his Premier League debut for Antonio Conte’s team on the opening day of the season in the 3-2 defeat to Burnley but he was unfortunately withdrawn from the action after 18 minutes following Gary Cahill’s red card.

Blues manager Harry Redknapp reiterated the fact that the club still needed to sign players after another lacklustre performance against Reading at the weekend and the board have moved quickly to secure the services of Boga.

The 20-year-old becomes the fourth loan signing in a week following the arrivals of Arsenal duo Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Bramall along with Southampton striker Sam Gallagher, all of whom also signed on season-long loan deals.

Blues have been crying out for a creative spark to play just behind the striker and Redknapp is now hoping that Boga can bring that spark to the club.

It is expected that Blues will sign another three players before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.
