Burton Albion forward Abdenasser El Khayati is reportedly being tracked by Gary Rowett’s Birmingham City as well as Queens Park Rangers.

The two interested parties are now managed by former Brewers managers so links aren’t really too surprising but it is believed that Blues have sent scouts to purposely watch El Khayati on several occasions so far this season.

Earlier this window, we highlighted El Khayati as one of the seven January buys that Rowett should pursue and by the looks of things the manager got in there before we even made the initial suggestion.

It hasn’t been made public the fee that Burton are looking for but we believe that it could be anywhere in the region of £500,000 to £750,000.

The Brewers boss Nigel Clough hinted that a deal could happen this window for El Khayati but only if the move was right for both the club and the player.

El Khayati, originally from the Netherlands, moved to Burton last January and since then he has made 31 appearances for them, scoring 11 goals in all competitions.

The Burton Mail online report that a move could be likely for the Dutchman and if he was to move to St.Andrews he would join fellow countryman Maikel Kieftenbeld in wearing the royal blue shirt.
