Blues manager Lee Clark has admitted that defender Dan Burn won’t be coming back to St Andrews.

The centre-back should have been staying with City until the end of the season, but his parent club Fulham called him back to Craven Cottage at the start of January.

At the time Clark held hopes of the player returning to the City side to see out the remainder of his loan spell, but since the player has impressed manager Rene Meulensteen in the two FA Cup games he has featured in for the Londoners, he wants to keep him at the club to help them fight off any threat of relegation.

Speaking to Blues official website, Clark said: ‘It doesn’t look like Dan is coming back and he is going to stay at Fulham.

‘He’s been playing too well, which is a double-edged sword. He’s gone in and played against Norwich again in the cup replay and he was outstanding. I spoke to Rene and he was really impressed with him.

‘The Premier League is where Dan wants to be and that’s where I knew he’d end up going. We’ve obviously been thanked by Fulham because we helped him with his development but it’s not a good scenario for us.’

Burn made 28 appearances for City since the start of the season and scored one goal, the side will certainly be worse off without him.
