Former Blues striker Kevin Philips is on the verge of playing in the top flight one again after agreeing a deal with Championship leaders Leicester City.

The veteran striker hopes to make his debut for the Foxes when they take on Leeds at the weekend and the 40 year old is determined to have at least one more season in the top flight.

‘I’m delighted to have completed my move to Leicester,’ Phillips wrote in his skysports.com blog.

‘I had a discussion with them in the summer, when they wanted to sign me, however, as I’ve said in my blog before, the lure of the Premier League and one last crack at the top flight at my age was too hard to turn down.

‘But, once I agreed to leave Crystal Palace, we made contact again and, to be honest, this was the only club I wanted to come to.’

Phillips spent three years at St Andrews between 2008 and 2011 and scored 22 goals for the club.
