Birmingham City have taken Borussia Dortmund centre back Emmanuel Mbende on a short term trial according to various outlets.

The Birmingham Mail are reporting that the German defender is part of the under 21 squad that took on Colchester United this afternoon (19th).

At the age of 19, it is not yet clear as to whether the big defender would be part of the first team or the development squad, should a move for him come about.

Dortmund’s Mbende becomes the second player from the German league to come in on trail. Peniel Mlapa arrived in July for a short two day trail period, in which he played against Northampton Town.

Mlapa, who has since joined Bochum, impressed during his two days with the club but unfortunately Blues were unable to follow up their interest with a solid bid.

Gary Rowett has gone on record saying that he wants to add another defender and attacker to his squad before the window shuts and the arrival of Mbende could be just what he is looking for.

Blues fans, what do you make of this news? Do you think Mbende could be the missing link in the Blues squad? Have you heard of him from his time at Dortmund? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
