Blues striker James Vaughan could be on his way out of St. Andrews – at least temporarily – after an approach was made by an unnamed club who want his services on loan.

Vital Blues understands that Vaughan, 28, is on the radar of one club. But Blues manager Gary Rowett is still running the rule over the Brummie who only signed for Blues permanently in June after six months on loan.

However, the signings of Che Adams and Greg Stewart – along with the emergence of Jack Storer – has pushed Vaughan down the pecking order meaning the player may be forced to look for game time away from the second city.

Blues` coaching team believe Vaughan carries a lot of ability but is suffering from a lack of confidence. The player is yet to score for Blues in 17 appearances, albeit the majority have been as a substitute.

The former Everton striker`s career has been plagued by injuries. This pre-season was his first full summer training schedule for more than four years. To date, his time at St. Andrews has been stop-start but Rowett was reluctant to let go of him until attacking reinforcements were made.

Now new faces have been bought in, Rowett may be open to Vaughan`s temporary exit.
