On Thursday Leeds United announced that their manager Garry Monk had resigned from his post, despite there being a new contract on the table for him to sign.

Monk, formerly of Swansea City, guided Leeds to an impressive seventh placed finish in the Championship last season, ending the campaign just five points outside of the play-offs but he stunned supporters and the majority of the country by announcing his decision to leave on Thursday.

With all that is going on at the club at the moment, it is likely that a number of their players could well be doubting their place in the squad for next season under whoever takes over from the highly rated Monk.

Well, with that in mind, I believe that Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp should be looking at the Leeds squad and targeting midfielder Liam Bridcutt to partner one of Blues’ current midfielders, whether that be Maikel Kieftenbeld, Craig Gardner, David Davis or Stephen Gleeson.

As it looks as though Robert Tesche may well have played his last game for the club, I have left him off the previous list and I feel as though Bridcutt could be the man to replace him.

Although I would class Kieftenbeld as our midfield terrier, I believe that having somebody like Bridcutt in the middle of the park would be a great asset for the club to have.

Last season, the former Sunderland central midfielder notched up 25 appearances for United in the Championship, picking up eight yellow cards and one red in the process.

Even though he isn’t the goal scoring midfielder that I think we so desperately need next season, I believe if he was to work alongside Davis and Kieftenbeld then Blues would have one of the best midfield trios in the league next season.

Blues fans, would you like to see the club make a move for somebody like Liam Bridcutt? Is he the type of player that we are missing in our midfield? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
