Birmingham City midfielder Reece Brown could become the latest academy product to leave St.Andrews after the club allowed him to have a short trial with Premier League side West Ham United.

Whilst on trial with the Hammers, Brown has completed a full 90 minutes for their development side as they beat Brighton and Hove Albion’s under 21 squad 2-0.

The 20 year old central midfielder has failed to make his mark on Gary Rowett since he has been in charge of Blues and it now looks like he is set to leave.

Should Brown decide that he wants to leave the club, he will be the second academy product to leave Blues in this current January transfer window after Demarai Gray completed his £3.75 million move to Leicester City.

The Dudley born trickster has only made eight appearances for Blues but he has represented England from under 16 level up until the under 20 level.

If the youngster moves on, both sides would have to agree a fee but because he hasn’t really gelled with Rowett, the Hammers might be able to take him away for a bargain.

Earlier in the season Rowett told the Birmingham Mail that the reason Brown wasn’t getting into his match day squad wasn’t because he was lacking in talent, but because he was late to weight sessions in the gym and other training sessions.

Unfortunately for Birmingham if Brown was to leave it would be another young talent that has left the nest and one that had so much to offer but just didn’t put the work in to get where he should have been.

Blues fans, what do you think of this situation? Does Reece Brown deserve to be given a chance by Gary Rowett? Or has his attitude driven him away from Birmingham City? Let us know in the comment section down below!
