Birmingham Among Four Teams Pursuing Loan Deal For England U21 international

|

We are weighing up a loan move for Chelsea midfielder Kasey Palmer, according to the Daily Mail journalist Jack Gaughan.

The club were interested in the 21-year-old during the January transfer window when Steve Cotterill was still in charge, but it seems we may now revive our interest in the player.

However, we are not the only team looking to recruit Palmer with Newcastle United, Sheffield United and Norwich City all said to be monitoring the England Under 21 international as well.

He usually plays in a central attacking midfield role, but can also play out wide. During his loan spell at Derby County in the second half of last season, he scored two goals in 16 appearances, but Rams boss Gary Rowett rarely started him, and by the end of the loan spell, he had started just two games.

The club is certainly looking for offensive-minded central midfield player and Palmer could well fit the bill. His most impressive spell came in the first half of the 16/17 season when he was at Huddersfield, but an Achilles tendon injury, as well as a hamstring problem, have hindered his progress since then.
