Blues development squad grabbed themselves a fortunate two all draw at conference north side Worcester City on Friday night. Goals from Kyle Mcfarlane and Liam Truslove cemented what was in the end, another good result for Richard Beale’s side.

Worcester did grab themselves a lead midway through the first half, ex Stourbridge striker Ryan Rowe was the man who got the home side a deserved lead.

It didn’t take long for Blues to get themselves back in the game however, a mistake in the Worcester defence was taken advantage of fully by first year professional Kyle Mcfarlane, the eighteen year old striker slotted home his first goal of the season and first goal since turning professional.

It was then Blues who took the lead, the lively Mcfarlane was bundled over in the box and midfielder Liam Truslove cooly slotted home from the penalty spot. It was expected that Blues would then manage to kick on and complete a solid victory, however the non league side had other ideas.

A poor clearance led to keeper Jake Weaver bringing down a Worcester player in the box and Worcester had an opportunity to bring themselves back into the game. Sean Geddes stepped up and Weaver looked to have been the hero as he managed to save the penalty, only for the rebound to fall straight to the feet of the Worcester midfielder and he levelled the game up.

Substitute Viv Solomon then missed a glorious late chance for Blues but fluffed at a shot which was eventually way off target.

It was a disappointing performance from the Blues youngsters at Aggborough, although the fact that they still fought away for a result shows the fighting qualities of this young Blues side.

Blues: Trueman (Weaver ht), Cogley, Seddon, Harding, Bernard, Cooper (Baba 55), Truslove, Crooks (O’Neill 55), McDonald (Solomon-Otabor 55), McFarlane (Wallen 75). Not used: Cotton.
