Webb admits to making mistakes in Wolves clash

Referee Howard Webb admitted after the Blues v Wolves game on Tuesday that he had made mistakes during the match.

First of all Webb missed giving Blues a penalty after Marcus Bent went down in the box with the score at 1-0 to the visitors.

Then later in the game he got in the way of the ball when Radhi Jaidi made a crossfield pass and he deflected the ball to Wolves who broke and scored the all important second goal.

The 37-year-old official told Setanta Sports after the game: ‘I am disappointed to have an influence on a goal like that.
‘It is probably the lowest point of my professional refereeing career.

‘I am disappointed and it is not what you want to be a part of at all.

‘It was difficult because the ball comes at you at pace and you think you are in the best position but then something like that happens and they break away and sod’s law says they go and score from it.

‘You want the world to swallow you up at that moment. I have spoken to the management of Birmingham City and they have been outstanding and accepted it and have shown no animosity at all.

‘They dealt with it in an excellent way but I was almost more disappointed with the penalty incident.’
