Former Blues striker James Vaughan continued his impressive start to his Bury career with two goals in their 4-1 win over Port Vale at Gigg Lane this afternoon.

Vaughan, who departed St. Andrews without scoring a competitive goal, has netted three times in his two appearances for the Shakers.

The 28 year-old has been hampered by injuries throughout his career and struggled to force his way into the first team reckoning at Blues. But when Bury were made aware of his availability, their manager David Flitcroft was quick to snap him up – and Vaughan is already repaying his faith with goals.

The outcome of Vaughan’s time at Blues was unfortunate as there he is clearly a talented player. But the drop down to League One seems to be working wonders for Vaughan.
