David Stockdale has revealed he has held discussions with Garry Monk after returning to pre-season training.

The manager has made it clear to the 32-year-old that he is not part of the club’s first team plans and the goalkeeper is now training with the team’s Under 23s until his future is resolved.

Our no.13 revealed that he is prepared to remain at the Blues if an agreement can’t be reached for him to leave St Andrew’s. He also accepts that any sale has to be in the best interests of all parties:

Stockdale also confirmed that he hasn’t “asked to leave” the club. Leeds were favourites to sign the keeper, but they haven’t returned to the table after having a loan offer rejected by the club.

The Yorkshire Evening Post report the Whites are keen to seal a deal for a new number one by the end of the week with Chelsea’s Jamal Blackman now the favourite.

  • This is getting to be such a boring story . It’s seems like we very slow out of the blocks look for , decent keeper before we do anything else otherwise we will only have out field players to start the season

  • I would be more than happy to see Stockdale between the sticks next season.
I cannot see Monk signing a better keeper with our budget. OK he made the odd mistake, but all keepers do.

  • Just maybe this is Monk’s way of getting him to pull up his socks somewhat. Our new manager is a canny guy.

  • We can’t sign all players needed so if we can save a signing and add money to get a striker so be it ..
